About the Author

Carol Rees Parrish, MS, RD

Carol Rees Parrish, MS, RD, is a registered dietitian with more than 30 years of clinical experience in nutrition and dietetics.

With a focus on nutrition and gastrointestinal disorders, she serves as a nutrition support specialist at the University of Virginia Health System (UVAHS), Digestive Health Center of Excellence.

"My goal for writing this book was to educate patients about their SBS, and in so doing, empower them to take a more active role in their care."

Carol founded the Medicine Nutrition Support Service in 1991. She began the home nutrition support program at the UVAHS Home Health Company, developed the GI Nutrition Clinic, originated the UVAHS Celiac Support group and cofounded the weeklong UVAHS Nutrition Support Traineeship, Weekend Warrior and Webinar educational programs. She is a frequent speaker at state, national and international conferences.
